Item: Warning - Spam emails that look like invoices for your domain name

Dear Customers,

A new spam email has been brought to our attention that looks like an invoice for the renewal of search engine registration services but is actually just solicitation and has nothing to do with Strobe Net or the continuation of your domain name or web services.

The email is from the 'Domain Listing Center' and comes with a subject line of "Domain Notification: This is your Final Notice of Domain Listing" - please ignore it if you receive one.

If you receive emails that seem official, relating to your domain name or web site please check with us via email support@strobe.net.nz or on 09 366 0878 before actioning or replying to them. We can advise if the email is legit or not.

Kind regards,

Strobe Net Customer Service

Item: Changes to Strobe Net Mail Services

Dear Customers,

A new feature to help reduce spam called Greylisting has been added to the email server over the weekend.

You don't need to do anything for this new service to block spam from your email account.

It will however affect the speed of delivery of email for the first time each new sender, that is not recorded in the system, sends you an email. This initial delay will be a minimum of five minutes, and up to thirty minutes. The sender will not be notified of this delay. Once a sender has been automatically approved, after the five minute delay, all future emails will be delivered normally.

If you experience any issues, or have any feedback on the effectiveness of the new spam blocking system, please email support@strobe.net.nz.

Dear Customers,

Strobe Net is well under way in the email server upgrades. You should of been notified by email of your date of change and your new account details.

The process:

  1. 1) Receive an email advising date and time of change with instructions and changed details

  3. 3) Edit your email account and change your username and pop3 address and then receive your email. Your password has not changed and will work with the new system. If you need help please call us and we can reset the password for you.

Item: Email Server Upgrades

Dear Customers,

Strobe Net is in the process of upgrading our email services to provide better security and self management options for you and your business.

When we upgrade your account, you will need to make changes to your email configuration in the email software, such as Outlook, that you use to receive your email with. If you use our web mail facility, the method of accessing this will change also, as well as your username.

Why are we doing this?

* Increased security
* New dedicated hardware - only email will run on the new server
* New anti-virus package and improved anti-spam.
* New self management services such as:
-- manage existing and new accounts
-- set up out of office or vacation messages
-- change passwords and spam settings

These changes will happen over the next couple of weeks and we will be in touch advising you of the date and approximate time of the change for your accounts as well as provide the new account details that you need.

Please do not hesitate to call if you have any questions or concerns on 09 366 0878.

Item: Watch out for "Domain Name Expiration Notices"

Once again a domain name company is mass mailing clients whose domain names expire within the next 6 months with a formal domain name expiration notice and a request for payment to renew the domain name. Please do not renew your domain name with this company. This approach is confusing as it looks formal and they do charge high fees for this service.

No one other than Strobe Net should contact you regarding renrewing your domain names. Your names are secure and will not expire if you have paid Strobe Net's renewal invoices.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to call.
